Drake's New Record Drop --- His $1 Million Dollar Sports Bet Loss, That Is

Drake rapper

Drake has an album titled Her Loss with 21 Savage. Next time out, he might want to write My Loss about his recent, massive betting loss. The rapper lost $1 million in a Super Bowl bet, one of the biggest celebrity gambling losses (at least public) of the year.

His net worth is over $400 million, so he's doing just fine, but it still put a real scare into him. The sports gambling world is now feeling Its Loss, because Drake reportedly bowed out of that scene after losing such a huge chunk.

The Drake Curse hurt the rapper himself

The Drake Curse is almost impossible to avoid in sports. Whenever the Grammy-winning artist is affiliated with a sports team or represents them in some way, there's a good chance that team is going to crumble.

The latest example was the New England Patriots. Now, in defense of the rapper, he picked a major underdog to win the Super Bowl. The Patriots were viewed as a long shot to beat the Seattle Seahawks. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they lost by double-digits.

Drake's loss, as a result, was in the seven digits. He lost $1 million. Before the game, he shared on Instagram that he'd placed a million-dollar wager on the Patriots, led by Drake Maye. Sports fans across the globe were immediately wary of the team's prospects, and for good reason.

Per the post, the rapper would've scored a $2.9 million payout if the Patriots had stunned the world. They didn't, and he went home empty-handed. He posted a video reacting to his massive loss, and he captioned it, "I'm off sports betting... sticking to what I know..."

The rapper knows music, first and foremost. He hasn't released anything since that fateful day, but he also hasn't really made any notable moves in the betting world. He might really have stepped out of the sports betting world for good.

Sports betting isn't for everyone, and it's especially hard to stomach a massive loss like that, even if you're a multi-millionaire. Good on Drake for recognizing his shortcomings and cutting His Losses before they got too out of hand.

The Curse is real

The Drake Curse is the most famous curse in all of sports, and it got so bad that it hurt the very namesake. That's impressively bad. There are so many examples of the rapper destroying a sports team:

  • In 2025, bet $1 million on the Maple Leafs to beat the Panthers in Game 7. They lost.
  • Bet on Mike Tyson to beat Jake Paul. Paul won the fight.
  • Picked Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl in 2021. They lost in the final minute.
  • Jorge Masvidal lost at UFC 272 after a $275k wager from the artist in 2022.
  • Drake met Vladimir Guerrero Jr., slugger went 2/15 after that in 2019.
  • Hometown Maple Leafs lost crushing Game 7 to Bruins in 2019 NHL playoffs.
  • Artist trolled by wearing a shirt for all NFC and AFC Championship teams in 2019. Half of them lost.
  • Publicly supported Alabama in the 2019 College Football Championship. They lost by 28.

According to a dedicated site called thedrakecurse.com, he's down almost $800,000 on all his public sports bets. It's no wonder he stepped aside. He has a public record of losing big when it comes to sports, and his mere association with a team can often, improbably, turn the tide in favor of their opponent.

The one major instance of the curse not working was in 2019, when his beloved Toronto Raptors won the NBA Finals. "The Drake Curse is funny to me, honestly. First of all, the Raptors won a championship, so nobody could ever talk to me about the Drake Curse," he said in 2025.

What will he do next? Whatever it is, he's not likely to bet on it or be public about it.
