Brock Purdy: 250+ Passing Yards (-125)
Purdy returned to the 49ers’ lineup last week and threw for a cool 200 yards through essentially three quarters en route to the blowout win. In the only two games Purdy played in before last week, he threw for 277 and 309 yards. Dating back to last season, the 49ers’ signal-caller has topped this mark in five of his last seven games – and in nine of the last 15. Needless to say, we’ve got plenty of expectations behind this one, especially with two of the last three QBs to face the Panthers exceeding 250.5 passing yards
Believe it not, this will be the first time Purdy will have played games in consecutive weeks because of the nagging injuries. With the playoffs still in sight, we’re expecting a meaningful performance since San Francisco isn’t running all that effectively; the 49ers have the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game, so look for them to get it done throwing the football.
Jauan Jennings: Longest Reception – Over 19.5 Yards (-125)
I just talked about liking Purdy to do some damage, throwing the rock, and we’ll look for Jennings to be one of the biggest beneficiaries. Over the last four games, Jennings has had a reception of 20+ yards each time out, so look for him to get those looks once again. Since the 49ers have a healthy complement of pass-catchers, this should allow Jennings to get more one-on-one coverage that would otherwise give him less of a chance to hit the mark.
The Panthers haven’t been particularly great against the pass this season, and things haven’t been much better of late. Over the last three games, Carolina has allowed five different WRs to post catches of 20+.
Rico Dowdle: Over 16.5 Receiving Yards
The 49ers have been a true pass-funnel defense for opposing RBs this season, allowing the most receptions per game (5.5), second-most targets (6.9), and 10th-most receiving yards (33.5) to the position.
Last week, two different Cardinals’ RBs (Michael Carter, Bam Knight) both topped 20+ yards receiving, and six of the last seven teams they faced had an RB top this mark. I think most of us expect the Panthers to be in catch-up mode for most of the night, and if that game script holds, Dowdle will undoubtedly have a clear path to making us a profit.
Dowdle had season-highs in both receptions (5) and targets (7), and he missed his best receiving-yard total by one yard (55). The matchup is already great, but the recency bias is even better.
