Seattle Seahawks Among Early Favorites for Super Bowl 61
The Seattle Seahawks just beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60. Now, all eyes turn to Super Bowl 61. Of course, the team that just won the Super Bowl is always given good odds to win the next one, but where do the Seahawks lie at the earliest possible point? What about their biggest threats?
Seattle Seahawks, rival team land good Super Bowl odds
The Seattle Seahawks have the best odds of winning the next Super Bowl at +950. This is not at all surprising, because they just won it. They also have only a few substantial free agents leaving and plenty of cap space to re-sign and add more talent. They could be set up well for the next few seasons.
The Los Angeles Rams were one of the NFL's best teams this year. They also gave the Seahawks the best fight in the postseason, coming within a few yards of taking a late lead that could've proved to be the difference. As a result, they have the same odds as Seattle.
Here is the full list of teams and their odds per USA Today:

Of course, every team is theoretically capable of winning the Super Bowl, especially as of now. The draft can shift things dramatically, as can free agency. If the Raiders, who were the worst team in the NFL this season, nail everything, they could go from worst to first, even if that's patently absurd. It's not impossible.
Interesting notes from Super Bowl odds
There are some interesting notes from these opening odds. It doesn't always happen, but the team that lost the Super Bowl usually has pretty good odds. The Patriots have good odds, but they're worse than a few interesting teams. The Eagles, a first-round exit, and the Bills, with a new head coach, have higher odds than the runner-up.
The Detroit Lions missed the playoffs last year while being mostly healthy, yet they have the sixth-best odds of winning the championship. The Denver Broncos were an injury away from the Super Bowl and the AFC's top seed, but they have the ninth-best odds.
The 49ers had a rash of insane, harmful injuries to top players and still won 12 games and made the Divisional Round. Yet, they have lower odds than the six-win Chiefs? Speaking of, the Chiefs missed the playoffs and were eliminated when Patrick Mahomes was starting games. They're supposed to be a title contender after being bad and losing their QB for some time in 2026 as he recovers from a torn ACL?
The Panthers were not great last year, but they made the playoffs and seem to now be the team on the rise in the NFC South. Yet, they have the same odds to win it all as the Titans. The Titans won three games last season. Neither team is a good bet, but that's astounding.
The Cardinals may have healthy Kyler Murray back and a better coach who can help him, but they have the worst odds in the entire sport. They're worse than the Raiders and other teams who don't even have a quarterback right now.
All this will change when players sign free agent contracts and rookies are picked. For now, there are some wild Super Bowl odds.
